The Completion of a Drawing

I set out to complete a drawing of a baby elephant quite a while ago. I am pleased to say that I have completed the piece 🙂 It has been a drawing with it’s own journey, like many pieces have. When I set out to draw this piece, it was to be the first addition to the We Are Not Trophies series. This piece lead me down a great path, even though it wasn’t completed until recently.

I knew my series would have serious meaning, it’s a series topic. Wildlife preservation is extremely close to my heart. My soul cracks when I see the abuse animals go through and the threat of extinction to many is heartbreaking. It’s a reality I want to change. That is why I set out on the series. It’s amazing what you can do with passion, drive and belief. This is not something that will be fixed in a day or even a few years, but it is something that I can help with. It is something the Can be fixed.

People have already been asking me more questions on why I am an animal lover. Why care? Why start with the elephant? Would the disappearance of these creatures really affect us? Each time those questions are answered, I see a light bulb go off atop of their heads. In turn, they want to make a difference. Even if it donating some money to the WWF and adopting a pet.

It is our responsibility to preserve this Earth. We have done a lot of damage over time and things can be repaired, slowly but things can and will change. With the simple belief that I have in saving animals (of all types) and this environment we all share, I am letting that fuel my creation. It doesn’t matter if it is a painting or drawing, the message is there.

Make a difference. You can always make a difference. Even if it is recycling your plastic bottles, it’s a step in the right direction.

  1. Wow! I love the drawing, which is so realistic and so touching, and the message behind it. It’s great that there are people like you wanting to save the world and the animals. I think so too, that we have to do something.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words 🙂 He was a lot of fun to complete, I felt that I had to do it with as much care as possible. Saving creatures like him is so important to all of us. Thank you very much for the support.
